Ngāti Rānana welcomes to kahu Kakapo to London

Nā Whaea Jackie Naylor.

This beautiful kahu kakapo was unwrapped at Perth Museum in Scotland and saw daylight for the first time in many years to the accompaniment of karakia and waiata from Ngāti Rānana, and her beautiful feathers in shades of green appeared to brighten in the light. At the end of her journey to the British Museum in London Ngāti Rānana welcomed her with more karakia and waiata. She is now in the hands of the amazing conservators from Perth Museum and the British Museum who will give her the attention she needs to shine again.
