On Saturday 15th February we were invited to perform for the 2nd year in a row at the New Zealand Scotland Society Waitangi dinner-dance at Murrayshall Country House in Perth, Scotland. In attendance were Sir Jerry and Lady Janine Mateparae, High Commissioner of New Zealand to the United Kingdom as well as Sir Neil and Lady Marie McIntosh, Honorary Consul for New Zealand. Whaea Ereti Mitchell, the President of the New Zealand Scotland Society, was our generous host again, as she was last year and also back in 1996 when Ngati Ranana first performed up in Perth. Ngāti Rānana opened up the evening with a performance, which received many applause and accolades from the audience of Scots and kiwis. Throughout the evening we enjoyed the fine dining, entertainment of the band and the Scottish dancing (Ceidhli). It was an amazing night and a trip well worth making. A huge thank-you to Whaea Ereti – her manaakitangi and aroha is unprecedented.
