Last night we were invited by the New Zealand Society to part of the London Waitangi Day Service at St. Lawrence Jewry. This annual service has been happening longer than any Waitangi day service in the world! Lead by the Bishop of Ripon, our Honorary Chaplains the Archdeacon of Canterbury Jo Kelly-Moore and the Reverend Canon David Parrott and with special guest artist, soprano, Aivale Cole, it was a wonderful event to be a part of. We, along with other New Zealanders residing in London commemorated the day in karakia and waiata and were then hosted by The Girdlers’ Company at a reception at Girdlers’ Hall, Guildhall. The event was a great way for us to reflect on our country’s past and to contemplate its future. Titiro whakamuri, kōkiri whakamua.
Our kaihaka tonight were
Whaea Jackie Naylor, Conor Lorigan, Anna Polonkai, Jordan Broomfield, Ben Appleton, Richard Keane, Su Hepenstall, Rebecca Khan, Charlene Ferguson, Michelle Rigby, Rosco Burns, Sharlene Ni Churraidhín, Charles Pānapa
